Where Your Healing Matters the Most

Whatever you’re going through, know that there is hope. Let me help you find that hope.

At Harmony Counselling Service in St Albans, Christchurch, New Zealand, I assist you or your loved ones with a range of difficult life issues to restore balance, happiness, and peace through various techniques or strategies of 'talk therapy.’

I work primarily from a Person-Centred Therapy (PCT) approach. However, I can utilise other methods to suit your specific needs during each and every individual session. These can include the following approaches:
A New You is Waiting

  • Narrative Therapy
  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
  • Emotional Regulation Skills
  • Imago Relationships Therapy
  • Acknowledgement and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Solutions Focused Therapy (SFT)

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Child Play Therapy (CPT)
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Gestalt Therapy
  • Imaginal Exposure Therapy
  • Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT)

Why Attend Harmony Counselling Service?

I utilise various assessments when appropriate to measure the severity of a specific problem as well as determining your progress within therapy. I can provide a copy of these for your doctor to assist you further where requested.

I will listen patiently to you, always with empathy, genuineness and without judgement, to help you find the solutions you desire for your life. I always encourage honest discussion and feedback within our sessions so I can adjust my style to fit what you need.

I offer counselling services for Adults, Couples, Children and Youth as well as Family relationship therapy sessions.

You may choose to include my pet therapy animals ('Hamish' & 'Molly' the cats or 'Maggie' the Poochon dog) into therapy sessions. The utilisation of Animal Assisted Therapy, can enhance your overall comfort and engagement with the counselling process itself and thus the gains you obtain.

Additionally you may wish to practice the simple skill of 'mindfulness' on your arrival, during the session and departure by simply noticing the chirping wild birds or clucking from the free range rescue pet chickens feeding on bird seed and foraging in the beautiful surrounds of the colourful flower garden, accompanied by the gentle sounds of the water fountain and wind chimes.

You may be eligible to access as an employee, a fully funded Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for counselling with Benestar, EAP Works, Instep, and Stratos through your employer as I am an approved Counsellor with these organisations.

If you have experienced sexual harm and wish to access ACC Sensitive Claim funded counselling, as an ACC approved provider I can support you with lodging a claim, along with fully funded therapy.

I can also offer a set number of fully funded sessions if you have been impacted by being a  victim of a serious crime or natural disaster, via a Victim Support Victim Assistance Scheme (VAS) referral.

The Cerebral Palsy Society provides Cerebral Palsy clients a set amount of funding via their voucher system to provide payment for your counselling sessions, which I am always happy to accept.

The Child Cancer Foundation provides a set number of sessions fully funded by them, for eligible families with a child who has been diagnosed with cancer.

If you are an existing WINZ client, low income earner or StudyLink student you may be eligible for subsidised sessions from WINZ.

I provide a non-judgemental, supportive and equal service for all people including those with physical or intellectual disability, all ethnic groups, people identifying as LGBTQI+, all forms of spiritual or religious beliefs, sex workers, people who have committed crimes and people from other 'minority' groups.

I am happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have before your first session during a phone discussion about my practice and approach. This allows you to initially assess if I am the right counsellor for you, and for me to ensure I am suitable to assist your needs or specific problem. If I’m not, I am happy to refer you to another therapist who specialises in the area of your needs.
