Harmony Counselling Service - Restoring Balance, Happiness and Peace to Your Life

Where Your Healing Matters the Most

Whatever you’re going through, know that there is hope. Let me help you find that hope.

At Harmony Counselling Service in St Albans, Christchurch, New Zealand, I assist you or your loved ones with a range of difficult life issues to restore balance, happiness, and peace through various techniques or strategies of 'talk therapy’ and somatic (mind/body) healing methods.

I work primarily from both a Person-Centred Therapy (PCT) approach, whilst also utilising the Te Whare Tapa Wha Maori model for holistic cultural concepts. However, I can utilise other methods such as somatic based therapies, including  the teaching of various emotional regulation skills to suit your specific needs during each and every session. These can include the following approaches:

I offer counselling services for Adults, Couples, Children and Youth as well as Family relationship therapy sessions.

Animal Assisted Therapy or 'Pet Therapy' is a growing area of therapy where animals are utilised within your therapy sessions to support increased comfort and engagement, reduce stress levels and encourages communication when feeling anxious in session. You may choose to have either 'Maggie' a Poochon Dog or 'Molly' a Burmese Cat in your sessions to gain the additional benefits of pet therapy.

I utilise various assessments when appropriate to measure the severity of a specific problem, as well as determining your progress within therapy. I can provide a copy of these for your doctor to assist you further where requested.

You may be eligible to access as an employee, a fully funded Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for counselling with Benestar, Raise, Instep and Vitae through your employer as I am an approved Counsellor with these organisations.

If you have experienced sexual harm and wish to access ACC Sensitive Claim funded counselling, as an ACC approved provider I can support you with lodging a claim, along with fully funded therapy.

I also facilitate ACC fully funded Trauma Informed Yoga Group Therapy courses for clients who already have an existing and accepted sensitive claim, and are currently seeing a ACC Sensitive Claims approved therapist. Courses are run in school terms four times per year for 9 weeks each. You may choose to complete Level 1 Yoga (Beginners Yin & Restorative styles), Level 2 (Intermediate Yin & Restorative styles)  Yoga or, Yoga Nidra (Relaxation/Meditational style) courses. In each course you will also learn various emotional regulation skills to further support mood management. These classes are all available online, as well as in person in Christchurch city.

I can also offer a set number of fully funded sessions if you have been impacted by being a victim of a serious crime including sexual violence (if you are unable to access an ACC approved sensitive claims therapist) or natural disaster via a Victim Support Victim Assistance Scheme (VAS) referral.

The Cerebral Palsy Society provides Cerebral Palsy clients a set amount of funding to provide payment for your counselling sessions, which I am always happy to accept.

I am happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have before your first session during a phone discussion about my practice and approach. This allows you to initially assess if I am the right counsellor for you, and for me to ensure I am suitable to assist your needs or specific problem. If I’m not, I am happy to refer you to another therapist who specialises in the area of your needs.
